Gwendolyn Joan Thompson

Gwendolyn Joan Thompson, mostly known as "Gwen," was the daughter of the late Elrica Hodge and Albert Richardson, born August 20, 1962, in Sandy Point, St. Kitts/Nevis. Gwendolyn was a dedicated and loving mother who always went out of her way to provide for her five children. In 1990, Gwendolyn made the hardest decision of her life-leaving St. Kitts/Nevis to provide a better life for her children. She quickly found a part-time job to bring her children and husband with her. Gwendolyn and her late husband, Eric Thompson, worked together at Charlee Homes for Children, a non-profit boarding home for abused and neglected young girls. After being laid off from Charlee Home for Children, Gwendolyn decided to become a full-time homemaker. Her passion had always been her children, so this new direction in life made perfect sense. North Dade Assembly Christian Center was her home away from home. Gwendolyn forged many friendships with her brothers and sisters in Christ. Before she became too ill to walk, she could be found at every church event. She loved to bake-especially for church events. Gwendolyn was known to be a very dependable and selfless person who always went above and beyond for her friends and family. On June 30, 2022, Gwendolyn lost her soulmate and long-life friend, Eric Thompson, which was a devastating loss for her. On December 4, 2022, Gwendolyn was called home to be reunited with her soulmate and loved ones that went on before her. Gwendolyn's memory will forever live on in the lives of: Her children: Colline Dawkins, Annette Hodge, Denroy Hodge, Eugenie "Genny" Hodge, and Ericka Hodge; her grandchildren: Anesha Hodge, Kevin Hodge, Aaron Hodge, Craig Dawkins, Donovan Hodge, and Keyvon Culbreath; her siblings: Albert Hodge, Prince Hodge, Eugene "Dick" Richardson, and June Powell; her nephews: Junie Hodge, Elmon Lewis, George Lewis, Elvis Lewis, Frankie Powell, Justin Richardson, Eric Van Dyke, Albert Junior Hodge, and Anthony Hodge; her nieces: Patricia Rodgers, Faye Gordon, Gail Gordon, Diane Mills, Patricia Huggins, Tracye Richardson, Letisha Barnes, and Donna Simmons; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, and the entire Fig Tree community. Please leave the family a note of condolence, light a candle of remembrance or order a floral remembrance piece. Be comforted by these words: Revelation 21:4 - He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.
