Clarence Charles Woodside

Clarence Charles Woodside Jr. was born on January 30, 1963 on the beautiful island of Nassau, Bahamas to the late Clarence Woodside Sr. and Iva Jane Barnett, nee Pinder. As a young child Clarence was mischievous and liked to tease the other siblings. One of his enjoyments was to scare his other sisters and brothers. As a child he had the nick name "Shine" because of the dark complexion of his skin. Clarence was a child who loved being outdoors with other young boys in his community, where they enjoyed making and flying kites, making wooden scooters and box carts, which they used to play in the streets with. He also enjoyed spinning tops and shooting marbles. During the late 1960's Clarence began his schooling, he first attended a pre-school that was located in a home and operated by a husband-and-wife name Jerry Sweeting. This school was located at the junction of Market Street and Robinson Road. From there Clarence attended Yellow Elder Primary and Naomi Blatch Primary Schools. From there Clarence attended the S.C. McPherson Junior High School, then the A.F. Adderley Senior High School. As a child, Clarence was industrious and adventurous; he sought ways to make money, by selling the country's two main newspapers, the Guardian in the morning prior to going to school and the Tribune in the evening, after attending school. He also worked as a packing boy at the Super Value Food Store, which at the time was one of the major food store chain in Nassau. After leaving High School, Clarence sought employment at the Nassau Beach hotel on West Bay Street, where he worked in the House Keeping department for a number of years. After which, he relocated to Miami, FL in the late 1980's where he stayed with his mother. He spent a few years in the United States, and then returned to Nassau, Bahamas, where he got employment at the casino on Paradise Island. After a few years at the casino, Clarence relocated the second time to Miami, FL. where he was employed as a security officer, then at JB Hunt Shipping and Logistic Company. He then began making deliveries, driving eighteen-wheeler trucks across the United States. Driving trucks across the country was his passion. Unfortunately, he discontinued this in 2016. Clarence also enjoyed cooking and staying in shape by exercising. Most importantly Clarence loved Jesus Christ; he surrendered his life to Jesus a number of years ago and enjoyed fellowshipping with the saints. He utilized social media to post recipes and different food he prepared; he also used that media to send words of encouragements to his family and friends. After being challenged in his body for several years, on Thursday, June 15, 2023 Clarence transition from this earthly realm to be forever with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We thank our Heavenly Father for the life of Clarence. Clarence is survived by his daughter Shamara Johnson, sons Clarence A. Charles Woodside Jr. and Jordan Woodside.
