Winston John Pierre Obituary

Winston John Pierre was born on Friday, August 2, 1957 to Jean Henrietta Bostic and the late Peter Pierre in St. James, Trinidad and Tobago. He was affectionately known as “Tiny” because he was a premature baby and was extremely tiny. In addition to his parents, he was raised by his grandparents Alexander and Daisy Bostic.

Winston attended Mucurapo Boys Roman Catholic School for primary school (elementary and middle school) and St. James Secondary School (high school). He was always a very ambitious and forward thinking individual and left Trinidad around 1978 to relocate to New Rochelle, New York, USA where he lived with his aunt and uncle Pearl and Hollis Pritchard. He enrolled at Westchester Community College where he majored in accounting. Winston eventually continued his education at Long Island University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and his Master of Science in Accounting.

Winston worked several jobs to gain his independence in the US. He eventually moved to Brooklyn, New York after he was able to be self-sustaining in this new and exciting place. In 1980, he met Nova Wilkinson in Brooklyn, NY. They dated for three years before they were married in 1983. Their union produced two beautiful children Andrew and Candace Pierre. Winston and Nova were married for 39 years.

After working for several years as an Assistant Vice President with Chase Manhattan Bank in NYC, Winston and Nova relocated with the kids to Lauderdale Lakes, FL in 1997. Shortly thereafter, Winston began working at the School Board of Broward County and worked his way up to become the Assistant Director of IT Business Operations.

Winston was a very loving, caring, compassionate, intelligent, and classy gentleman. He would always put others needs before his own and would give someone his last article of clothing if it was something that they needed. In so many words, he would always say, it’s a blessing to be a blessing to others. His love for his family was beyond comprehension. He was proud of his wife and childrens’ accomplishments. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend, and supervisor.

On the morning of April 3, 2023, Winston succumbed to many complications after he sustained a massive stroke on January 11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father Peter Pierre.

In his passing, Winston leaves to cherish his memory and life: his wife Nova Wilkinson-Pierre; son, Dr. Andrew Pierre; daughter Candace Pierre, Esq; mother Jean Douglas; brother, Junior “Frankie” Pierre; sisters, Judy and Judith Pierre; nephews, Brent Pierre, Adrian Marcano, Jonathan Pierre, and Nicholas Pierre; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, close friends, and co-workers.

Please leave the family a note of Condolence, light a candle of remembrance, or order a floral remembrance piece.

Be comforted by these words:

Psalms 34:18

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
