Virginia Carswell Abel Obituary

Virginia Carswell Abel entered this world with her identical twin on May 28, 1943, in Miami, Florida to the late Lenton and Maggie Carswell.

Virginia spent her earlier years growing up in Miami, Florida and later moved to Carver Ranches. Virginia graduated from Attucks High School, Class of 1961. She furthered her studies, and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1984, and utilized those skills as a private duty nurse. Virginia, alongside her twin sister, founded “Elderly Check” in 1988, providing nursing care to seniors until 2017. Virginia, a lover of education, did not stop there, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University on July 31, 2002. After graduation, Virginia worked as a Mental Health Counselor at the university.

Virginia married Benjamin Edward Abel, and from that union, were born four sons. “Her boys”, whom she so often affectionately referred to as, were the “Apple of her Eyes”. “Her boys”, she loved dearly, loved unwavering, and loved unconditional. “Her boys”, who grew to strong, dependable men, were the anchor of their mother’s life until the end.

Virginia, a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-love, cousin, and friend. Virginia, a true WARRIOR, never hesitated to speak forth the beauty of sound knowledge and advise. Even during her final days, in the midst of her pain, Virginia boldly provided instruction and guidance to her boys, encouraging them to forever take care of one another.  #boyMOM

On April 11, 2023, after living a purpose driven life full of love, Virginia answered the call to take her eternal rest. Virginia, our “MATRIARCH” and “QUEEN”, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 79. Virginia fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept her faith, and laid up for Virginia was her “Crown of Righteousness”.

Virginia had a special love for God, her family, her game show network channel, and her lottery. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished and celebrated in the lives of her family and friends.  She will be deeply missed by her four boys, Benjamin Abel (Marilyn), Derrick Abel (Rebecca), Corey Abel (Tanika) and Keith Abel; her 16 beautiful grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, her identical twin Clementine Carswell, and Doris Carswell; a host of devoted and loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lenton and Maggie Carswell; four brothers, Edward, Harold, Lewis, and Larry Carswell; and other closely related relatives that Virginia truly loved and missed.

Please leave the family a note of Condolence, light a candle of remembrance, or a floral remembrance piece.
