Esmeda Williams Obituary

Esmeda Williams affectionally known as “Miss Tastie” was born on April 25, 1943 in the parish of St. Anns, Jamaica to Miss Ethel Jones. She was the fifth child of seven children. After the death of her mother,  she was adopted by Miss Cassandra Brown: who raised her in the Anglican faith. She eventually relocated to Old Harbour, St. Catherine and then to Kingston where she spent half of her adult life and then migrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1989.

In New York she attended Paramount Nursing School where she obtained her license as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Esmeda was a very hard worker, reliable and dedicated CNA who treated her patients as her own family. She was quiet, shy even, but a strong woman who had a heart of gold. She was an amazing care giver willing to help anyone who was in need. Her kind and sweet spirit brought joy to many.  After many years in New York, she relocated once again to Florida in 1996, where she continued working as a CNA with various agencies. She was loved immensely by her employers, co-workers and clients. Esmeda loved to cook her delicious dishes Escovitch fish, fried dumpling and oxtails.  She also spent hours tending to her gardening; always trying to grow her scotch bonnet pepper and roses.

Esmeda loved God and worshipping at Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Miramar.  She looked forward to fellowshipping with her church family especially sitting with her group of just older peers in their specific row. In March 2021, Esmeda got sick and she fought a great fight.  For a while it seemed like she conquered her illness, however on the night of January 18, 2023, Esmeda lost her fight for life.  She was definitely a fighter and went home to be with her God.  She left behind her beloved family:  Patricia Williams, Anthony Brown and Sonia Harris, eight grand-children and ten great-grandchildren, brothers and a host of nieces and nephews in Jamaica and the USA. She is gone but not forgotten because she will always be in our hearts. Sleep on in peace until we meet again. We all love you Grandma and you will definitely be missed.

Please leave the family a note of condolence, light a candle of remembrance, or order a floral remembrance piece.

Be comforted by these words:

Matthew 5:4

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
