Eddie Levon Thompson

February 27, 1953 ~ August 5, 2023 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Obituary

"The Master grants a life of joy and prosperity to those who serve him well. The greatest dignity to be found in death is the dignity of the life that preceded it."

Eddie Levon Thompson was born on February 27, 1953 in Hollywood, Florida to the late Edward and Mary Thompson. Together, along with his sister Shelia they grew up in a loving, and Christian household filled with love, laughter, life and security.

Eddie attended B.F. James Elementary and Lanier Jr. High in Hallandale, FL. He graduated from South Broward High School in Hollywood, Fl. in the class of 1971.

Eddie was outgoing and outspoken. He was a true trail blazer with an adventurous spirit. He never met a stranger, never a tree that he couldn't climb, or a problem that he wouldn't take on.

In addition to his winning personality, Eddie was embraced by and embedded in the lives of friends and families throughout Hallandale, Carver's Ranches and Ft. Lauderdale. Eddie's bold and reverent personality was always present. His love for family and friends was a true and absolute characterization of the man that he was.

High school sweethearts, Eddie married Crystal Mills also from Hallandale. To this union his only son, Adrian was born.

A loving and supportive father and grandfather, he carved a path of resilience and strength for his son Adrian and his grandson Xavier.

He had uncompromising work ethics. He owned and operated Thompson Tree Service. His service provided trimming, cutting, digging, removing, delivering and planting trees. He was a resourceful businessman.

Eddie found pleasure and relaxation in fishing, boating, and cooking.

While Eddie recently joined Greater Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Hallandale, he attended there regularly in his later years. He quietly supported the church financially for many years prior to joining and attending. His generosity was greatly appreciated by the church

On August 5, 2023, Eddie quietly and peacefully answered the Master's call. Throughout his illness, he never lost his love of living.

His resonant voice and wonderful memories will forever remain in the hearts of family and friends.

He leaves to morn his wonderful memories that will remain in the hearts of his son, Adrian; grandson, Xavier; his sister Shelia and brother-in-law Vernon Johnson; two nephews Marvelle and Marlon Berry; one niece, Amber Berry; a devoted and supportive cousin, Athena Smith-Jackson; his partner Shirley Merritt; along with many sorrowful friends. Eddie will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Please leave the family a note of condolence, light a candle of remembrance, or order a floral remembrance piece.
