Dorothy Lee Stevenson (née Glasgow) was born on August 25, 1933 in Hallandale, Florida to John Glasgow and Dora Mays Glasgow.  She grew up in Hallandale where she attended Lanier Elementary and Junior High.  She attended Attucks High School for one year, then transferred to and graduated from Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she played on the girls’ basketball team. In 1951, Dorothy entered into holy matrimony with Alonzora Stevenson. The couple was married for nineteen (19) years. To this union there was one child Patreece “Penny” Stevenson, who preceded Dorothy in death.

At an early age, Dorothy gave her life over to God, she worshiped at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Hallandale, FL under the ministry of the late Pastor Foster.  Later in life, Dorothy attended Community Missionary Baptist Church in Hollywood, FL under the ministry of the late Pastor Jeffery Mack, Sr. In the early 2000 she attended, and later joined, the Star of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church under the Ministry of the late Dr. IW Hepburn, Sr., which is currently under the leadership of Dr. IW Hepburn, Jr.

Dorothy was known by all for her cooking, which she learned from her mother, Dora Glasgow, the owner and proprietor of the “Blue Moon Café” restaurant in Hallandale, FL. Dorothy would cook a dish for anyone who asked her and would never ask for anything in return.  She was well known for her candid yams, peach cobbler, and of course her “Candy Apples” that she would diligently make for children and adults alike on Halloween. She was well loved by all; she was especially loved by her nieces and nephew to whom she became a second mother following the death of her sister, Etta Mae Pratt.

At 1:20pm on Monday, May 30, 2022, God spoke to Dorothy letting her know her room was ready, and said come home to me my daughter.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Glasgow Sr.; her mother, Dora Mays Glasgow; her sisters, Etta Mae Pratt (née Glasgow)and Fannie Lou Glasgow; and her brother, John Glasgow, Jr. She leaves to mourn her demise two (2)nieces, Reeta Nielly Mills (Samuel) of Ft.
